Ski touring/ splitboarding

Ski touring/ splitboarding.

Earn your turns and discover a different side of our mountains. Leave the lifts behind, climb at your own pace and explore the mountains with an experienced Oxyski instructor before enjoying the descent back down.

Choose your resort

The activity.

Skins under the skis, or a splitboard for riders: you leave the lifts and climb at your own pace, in silence, up to snow nobody has skied. Then the skins come off and you go down.

The instructor or guide picks the day's route from the snow and the group, from a two-hour introduction to a full day. Safety gear is provided and explained before setting off.

  • Advanced level.

Comfortable on a black run, from 8 depending on the resort and the outing.

  • From two hours to a full day.

Introduction, adventure or full day, one to four people per instructor.

  • Safety gear provided.

Transceiver, shovel and probe, with their use explained. Touring skis, skins and boots for hire at the Ski Shop.

The format and the length vary by resort: they are chosen at booking.

How it goes.

A small group, an instructor, and how a typical outing unfolds.

  1. Gear and briefing

Bindings adjusted, skins fitted, transceiver drill. The instructor presents the route and the day's snow.

  2. The climb

At your own pace, in line, far from the lifts. You learn the kick turn, manage the effort, see the mountain differently.

  3. The top

Skins off, a bite to eat, a read of the slope you are about to ski.

  4. The descent

Snow nobody has touched, the instructor ahead to choose the line. The reward for the climb.

Good to know.
