Discover sit-skiing with Oxyski.

Sit-skiing is a great way for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility or coordination to experience the slopes. Using Tessier sit-ski equipment, our instructors can help you discover the sport, build confidence and, where possible, progress towards greater independence on the mountain.

  • Piloted sit-skiing just for you.

Piloted sit-skiing is designed for skiers who need additional support on the slopes. The sit-ski is controlled by a trained instructor using a guiding bar, allowing the passenger to experience the sensations of skiing safely and comfortably. Each person can be as involved as they wish and as their mobility allows. We can also provide training for people who would like to learn how to pilot a sit-ski.

  • Standing adaptive skiing.

Standing adaptive skiing can be adapted to a wide range of physical and sensory needs. Whether you are visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, an amputee, or have reduced mobility, our instructors can adapt their teaching and equipment to help you discover — or rediscover — the pleasure of skiing. We also have experience teaching neurodivergent children, including children on the autism spectrum, who may feel more comfortable in a private lesson than in a group environment.

  • Meet the Tandem'Flex.

The Tessier Tandem’Flex is designed for people who are unable or prefer not to ski independently. Seated comfortably in the sit-ski, you can relax while a trained pilot guides you around the mountain — enjoying the sensation of gliding over the snow and taking in the views along the way. Adaptive skiing opens up the mountain in a different way, creating rewarding and memorable experiences for skiers and instructors alike.

In Courchevel, we’ll agree the lesson length and type of equipment you'll need with you before you book.

Who is adaptive skiing for?

Adaptive skiing is for anyone with a physical or sensory disability who would like to enjoy the mountain. No previous skiing experience is required.

What equipment?

Depending on your mobility, level of independence and goals, your lesson may use a tandem ski, uniski, dualski, skis or snowboard. The ski school will help you choose the most suitable equipment before your lesson.

Do I need someone with me?

No. You’ll ski with your instructor. A friend or family member is welcome to join you and, where appropriate, can learn how to follow safely during the descent.

I have never skied, is that a problem?

Not at all. Many of our adaptive skiing guests are complete beginners. Your first session is about getting comfortable, finding the right position and making sure the equipment is properly adapted to you.

From what age?

Adaptive skiing is available for both children and adults. Simply let the ski school know the skier’s age and individual needs so the team can prepare the most suitable lesson and equipment.

How do I book?

Please contact the Oxyski school in your resort before booking. The team will discuss your needs with you and agree the most suitable equipment, lesson format and duration.
